OSC--Guanajuato 2010

Only 12 days left until we leave for Mexico!  WOW!  I can’t believe that the time has almost come.  The team is making final preparations and everyone is starting to get very excited.  With VBS behind us now, everyone is squarely focused on Guanajuato and the energy and enthusiasm is starting to take control.

As a team we are getting closer and closer to reaching our financial goal.  As of now we are less than $5,000 away from our team goal!  It has been great to watch God bring in the support.  I am so excited to see how He provides for the remaining need.

Today we had a meeting with those planning VBS.  Some of the youth were here at the church preparing crafts and working on ideas for the week.  We have a better idea of what that time will look like after today’s meetings.  We can except to have between 50 and 100 kids attending each day (the first team started with 45 and ended with 115 by the end of their week!). 

We also know more about the direction of our construction projects for the mornings.  The group before us will be pouring the footers and foundation for a bathroom facility.  The group who was there this week did some painting, digging (for the bathroom facility) and pouring of cement for a sidewalk.  Lots of hard work has left many of the initial projects completed and so we will get the honor of working on the bathroom facility and moving it towards near completion (we think) during our time there!

Our logistical preparations are going very well.  We have travel plans, team goals, devotions and daily agendas all nearly solidified.  God is already doing neat things with this trip and I can’t wait to see what He does while we are down there!

• pray for the hearts of our young people as this trip draws near, that God would be preparing their hearts to be molded on this trip.
• pray for the safety and success of the team in Guanajuato the week before us, their week will have a large impact on how our week goes.
• pray for the people in Tejeban (the village)
• finally, pray that God would really blow us away on this trip with His power and His goodness and His love!
